Surely crowded cities will need good, even psychological art and architecture, but first they need to be coherent, livable and sustainable--less sexy and exciting than commingling the private psyche with public purposes but ultimately more ambitious, radical and noble. And who knows? Artists and poets may make architecture their subject again.
