| Barbara Westermann, a German-born sculptor, has taught Materiality and Social Sculpture at the New School for Social Research and has worked more recently at Providence College, Roger Williams University, and the Rhode Island School of Design. After sculpture with Daniel Spoerri, the Whitney Independent Study Program and fifteen years of New York, including one-woman shows in the Freiburg Museum of Contemporary Art in Germany, at the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art in California, and artwork in places like Ronald Feldman, Holly Solomon, Momenta Art and (currently) the Children in Crisis show in Hamburg and other German cities, she is introducing New York to Newport and Newport to New York, via LIVING ROOM on and off-line.
She's shown her work widely, including recent shows at A.R.T. and AuBase Gallery in New York, Brown University the Newport Art Museum, Clay Street Press Gallery and the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Ceter in Cincinnati, with upcoming shows at the Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City, Real Artways in Hartford, Ct, and the Clay Street Press Gallery in Cincinnati. |
