| BARBARA WESTERMANN + WILLIAM ALLEN
BOTH radical re-constructivists, their work in different ways seeks to redress the cultural imbalance towards aggressive monomaniacal behavior in artists and the public at large. The depths of the imagination and its sculpted or painted referents depend on living brain cells; here art is about life, not death, decay, decadence and detritus. History, feminism, food, sex and gender, roots of hard-to-pronounce words, the golden section and its arabesques, battles with signage and narrative -- all play a part in their work. |
